Two Feathers Endowment

Stewardship is deeply rooted in the American Indian identity. The Two Feathers Endowment takes its cues from positive centuries-old traditions, like tribal storytelling and the mutual concern that exists between generations. As a long-term resource for supporting the restoration of traditional American Indian cultures, the Endowment supports cultural and social programs as well as individual development through scholarships and community grants.

The Endowment focuses on artistic, educational, social and cultural opportunities within Minnesota’s American Indian community. Thanks to donations both large and small, the Endowment has supported everything from American Indian parenting programs to the development of new school curriculum and prides itself in its efforts to involve the American Indian community in every facet of its efforts, from soliciting donations to decision-making.

How the Two Feathers Endowment Makes a Difference

Since 1996, the Endowment has provided more than 368 grants to organizations throughout Minnesota. Among other educational programs, the Endowment has provided scholarships to graduating high-school seniors and has supported various public schools for American Indian education programs, including Ojibwe language classes and summer camps. Additional grants have provided support to social justice and traditional spiritual healing programs. Recognizing the central role of culture in American Indian life, the Endowment backs a variety of artistic endeavors. Beneficiaries have included a Minneapolis-based exhibition of quillwork and a photographic retrospective on the American Indian Movement.
