El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad

El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad is committed to fostering social change while preserving traditional culture and values within the local Latino community. It focuses on issues of long-standing importance to Latinos in Minnesota: civic engagement, community well-being, equal access, equitable representation, family sustainability, and the cultivation of future leadership. The bedrock principles, though, are family and community.

El Fondo supports grassroots programs that sustain the community’s values and support its long-term self-sufficiency. In addition to financial contributions large and small, El Fondo invites community members to commit their talent and time in support of its efforts.

How El Fondo Makes a Difference

Since 1996, El Fondo has provided 165 grants to nonprofits throughout the state of Minnesota. These grants aim to cultivate future leadership by supporting Latino outreach and bilingual education programs in area schools. Another area of focus is civic engagement. For example, El Fondo supported programs including the Latino Outreach Initiative of the Immigrant Law Center and the Immigrant Worker Organizing Project.
