Larry Schumacher

Interactive Media Strategist

Larry Schumacher
“I want to build the civic capacity of Minnesotans so my kids inherit an even better state than the one that drew me here years ago.”

As interactive media strategist, Larry creates compelling content for many different communication channels, all of which engage nonprofits, community leaders and donors in Minnesota Philanthropy Partners’ work. He oversees MN Partners’ five public websites, the twice-yearly MNSights print magazine and the six-times-per-year MNSights e-newsletter, along with supporting other marketing and communications efforts.

Larry joined MN Partners in 2014. Before that, he was the Citizens League’s first communications manager, and previously ran his own freelance writing and communications consulting firm, specializing in small nonprofits. For 12 years, he was an award-winning Minnesota newspaper journalist, reporting on government and community issues. He also taught overseas for three years.

He is a native of Tempe, Arizona and has a bachelor’s in political science from Carleton College. Larry lives with his wife, two sons and two dogs in Roseville, to which they recently relocated from Saint Cloud. His philanthropic interests include freedom of speech, justice and equity, media literacy and civic engagement.
