Erin Olson

Research Strategist for Real Time Talent

Erin Olson
“I believe that Minnesota Philanthropy Partners does meaningful work in communities across the state, and this matches my own commitment to making Minnesota a better place to live. I truly value that MN Partners takes an equity-based, collaborative approach in all it does.”

Erin is a research strategist for RealTime Talent, a collaboration of public and private entities focused on ensuring Minnesotan workers have the knowledge and skills needed by Minnesota’s employers.

In her role, Erin analyzes and presents new data highlighting current labor force and employer needs in Minnesota to better align the state’s education and workforce systems. Her role focuses on improving employer job posting and hiring practices, identifying ways to remove implicit bias from the recruitment process and developing strategies for job seekers to more quickly and effectively connect to employment opportunities.

Erin brings a strong background in research with a career spanning housing, transportation, workforce analysis, project design and program evaluation. Prior to joining RealTime Talent, Erin completed nine different research investigations with the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs and the Center for Transit Studies. She has also worked as an international consultant, providing survey development and program evaluation support to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization of Rwanda, Habitat for Humanity of Mozambique and Vedor LDA – a Mozambican planning and architecture consulting firm.

Erin holds two master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota: One in urban and regional planning from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs and a second in public health.

Outside of work, Erin volunteers with the Seward-Longfellow Restorative Justice Partnership, attends community meetings on planning and transportation issues in Saint Paul and participates in a Ghanaian dance group.
